Meet & Greet is a space for our immigrant communities and allies to come together to share their story, network, build relationships with colleagues, leaders, mentors, and supporters who share common interests, shared services, and resources with our community partners.

Host: Amel Alsalman, WIN Treasurer/Member

Our Special Guests:

  • Kim Sauer, Past WIN Chair, Asian Pacific Islanders Coalition SPS Chapter

Kim emigrated from South Korea as a young adult and, subsequently, started her career in government service. Over the years, she has held various positions of increasing responsibility at both federal and state agencies. Kim joined the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) over two decades ago and takes great pride in serving the public. She does so with great passion, especially when working with small businesses owners in communities of color and with those for whom English is a second language. She has served the LCB in many different roles, ensuring equitable distribution of government services and resources, and paying particular attention to those that are historically underserved due to cultural and language barriers. She strongly advocates for public/private partnerships, whose synergy repeatedly transforms what was once considered impossible into reality.

  • Treacy Duerfeldt, President at Rotary Club of Olympia Capital Centennial

Treacy Duerfeldt went to his first Rotary meeting at age 4 in Portland, Oregon. Now, a third-generation Rotarian, he joined Rotary in Concord, Indiana back in 1992. After serving in numerous positions, on numerous projects, he is currently President of the Rotary Club of Olympia Capital Centennial. Prior to his presidency, he raised millions for The Rotary Foundation at the District level (90+ Clubs). He's very proud of hosting 15 international exchange students, 13 of which were through Rotary.

Outside of Rotary, Treacy is the founder and CEO of an Insurance and Risk Management firm called the NationWide Contractors Alliance. He and his wife of 34 years (Joyce) actively serve on national committees associated with risk management for the National Association of Home Builders. Their son Andrew is finishing his undergrad and applying to law schools.

Treacy is well-traveled and has minors in German and Japanese. His hobbies include cooking, gardening, whiskey education (an actual non-profit of his), kayaking, yoga, and exercise in general. Treacy and his family moved to Olympia in 1997 and he is only a few years away from partial retirement and more international travel.
